The latest International Baccalaureate (IB) results are cause for celebration for Melbourne Montessori School graduates, with students achieving some impressive scores.
This year’s IB average for MMS is 34 –well above the world average IB score.
Jocelyn Koswara, 17, received a score of 40 out of a possible 45 – with 45 being the equivalent of a ‘perfect’ 99.95 ATAR. Jocelyn is hoping to study at Oxford University in the UK.
Marissa Pui scored 36, Zack and Xavier Tremigliozzi finished with scores of 34 and 28 respectively, and Connor Read achieved a score of 31.
“This is a fantastic result for our 2022 cohort. In the four years that MMS has been offering the IB program, we’ve now delivered three cohorts of graduates and a 100 per cent success rate,” says Casper Buisman, Director of Studies at MMS.
“The IB program at MMS is the embodiment of Maria Montessori’s plans for the education and development of adolescents. It allows schools to foster their own community, culture and context without prejudice, while also setting a world standard in terms of students’ holistic development and academic rigour.”
International research that compares the IB Diploma to non-IB programs has found that, aside from academic excellence, IB students develop important world-ready skills such as critical thinking, cultural sensitivity, time management, leadership and global mindedness.
This year’s IB graduates are now preparing for life beyond Melbourne Montessori School and we wish them all the best in their endeavours.
