Stargazing – Blake on the ABC!

“There aren’t too many 11-year-olds building radio telescopes in their spare time.

But Blake isn’t your average kid.

Not only is he building a radio telescope to listen to flares on the surface of the Sun, he regularly spends his weekends travelling across Victoria with his family to get the best vantage point of the night sky.

Later this month the science wonderkid is even presenting a project on spectroscopy to Swinburne University’s Astrophysics Department, including to one of his idols, Professor Alan Duffy.”

Parent Survey 2018

Thank you to all those parents who answered our Parent Survey questions earlier this year.

Percentage of parents who answered:

Cycle 1  51%
Cycle 2  56%
Cycle 3  56%
Cycle 4  59%
Cycle 5  50%

95% and above

We are thrilled to be able to announce that the following percentages of parents agreed:

99% that classrooms hold a positive learning environment

96% that their children are welcome and respected

95% that the teacher cares for my child as an individual

95% would recommend this school to other parents

Above 90%

Principal has visible presence and is accessible

Teacher holds high expectations for my child

Teaching level meets my expectations

Teachers are respectful, receptive and responsive to input from students

Discipline issues are handled fairly

School keeps me well-informed of activities through email, App etc

We had a very wide range of answers to the question which are the areas in most need of improvement.

Suggestions were many and varied with a few recurring themes: more sport needed was requested many times; facilities/buildings upgrade (more like Caulfield Grammar); playground upgrade including more shade; and more after-school activities/clubs especially for Cycle 1. All of the suggestions are taken very seriously and we have begun examining the opportunities to implement some of them as soon as possible and looking at longer term solutions for others.
